To place the account in its social and historical context further research can be carried out as required. The interviews will be transcribed and organised around specific themes. The data from these plus all other data will be integrated and written up. The final structure, content and style of the memoir will be discussed with the client at every stage. The commissioned work can begin or end at any of the four key stages. Where possible the interviews will be taped. These will be in the form of guided conversation and will follow the chosen events and stages of the person's life. Copies of the tapes can be made and listened to by others. Hearing grandma's voice will be an added pleasure. Secondly the tapes will be transcribed and written up with the interview notes. The third step is to use the transcription with other family documents such as letters and diaries, to write a family history or memoir, to which can be added photographs, family trees, clippings and illustration. These can be kept on disk or hard copy. The final stage might be for the account to be published as a short book, bound in soft or hard cover.
